Are you sick of your Android device freezing?

Here at the Phone Repair Centre, we’re well accustomed to solving problems with Android phones including HTC and Samsung, whatever they may be. Based on our findings, one of the most annoying and common problems that our customers have to deal with is a device freezing – which always seems to happen at the worst possible time.

If this is something you’re experiencing with your Android device, the simplest solution is just to bring it to our phone repair shop in Preston. But before you do that, there are a few things you can try to remedy the problem yourself. So, if your phone is stuck in freeze mode, here are a couple of things you can try:

Simply turn your phone off and on again

Usually the easiest way to unfreeze your Android phone will be to simply turn it off, leave it for a few moments and then boot it up again. Restarting your device is often the answer for all kinds of minor errors. If you’re still able to navigate your phone, just press and hold the power button to access the shutdown window.

However, if your device has frozen completely, Android devices do have a force restart, which is usually operated by holding the power button and volume down buttons for up to ten seconds. Removing your battery should always be a last resort.

Frozen app? How to force close a frozen app

Often the problem is not with the device itself, but with the app you’re running. As this can be quite a common occurrence, Android devices have a built-in way to force close rogue apps when they refuse to behave. Simply hit the home button on your device and go to the Home Screen; slide down the notifications menu from the top of your screen and tap on the profile icon at the top right. Tap settings, followed by Apps, find the app that has stopped working and press force stop followed by ‘ok’. This normally does the trick. However, if you’re not 100% sure about what the app actually does, you may want to bring your phone to our repair shop for advice, as some apps are essential to keep your phone operating properly.

If you’ve tried to rectify the problem yourself, and your device still refuses to start, bring it to your local mobile experts in Preston. We’ll do our best to sort out your problem that same day so that you’ll not be out of action for too long.
